Laura Ling Wikipedia - Laura Ling Returns To The United States

Finally after 5 months in North Korean captivity the two journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, have returned home to the United States. The 3 then reportedly flew to Burbank, California in movie producer Steve Bing's private jet.

I'm just going to cut it right here and throw in my 2 cents. I, like probably many of you, was under the impression that the United States and North Korea were on very shakey terms, especially considering the recent missile tests in North Korea. Kim Jong-Il wouldn't succumb to pressure from the United States government to stop testing missiles, yet he would drop to his knees from sweet talk from a former president of the nation he despises and let two captives which had been held for 5 months free?

Anyway, back onto the story... Laura Ling who was the managing editor of Vanguard at Current TV and her collegue Euna Lee were detained by North Korean authorities for trying to illegally enter the country. They had been apparently attempting to film refugees along the border with China. Both were sentenced to 12 years of labor prison.
